Cut the pieces

  • Background: cut 4 - 1 1/4" x 1 1/4".
  • Background: cut 4 - 1 1/4" x 2".
  • Background: cut 4 - 2" x 3 1/2".
  • Background: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 4 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 8 triangles.
  • Background: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 4 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 8 triangles.

  • Light Pink: cut 4 - 3 1/2" x 3 1/2".
  • Light Pink: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 2 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 4 triangles.
  • Light Pink: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 2 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 4 triangles.
  • Dark Pink: cut 4 - 1 1/4" x 1 1/4".
  • Medium Green: cut 2 - 2" x 2".
  • Medium Green: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 1 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 2 triangles.
  • Medium Green: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 1 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 2 triangles.
  • Dark Green: cut 2 - 2" x 2".
  • Dark Green: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 1 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 2 triangles.
  • Dark Green: cut (single thickness or all layers right side up) 1 - 4 5/16" x 2 1/8".

    Cut in half diagonally to make 2 triangles.

Piecing directions

  1. Stitch together Light Pink and Background 1 1/4" squares. Stitch to Background 1 1/4" x 2" rectangles. Make 4 of these units.

  2. Stitch together Light Pink and Background triangles. Make 4 of each unit illustrated.

  3. Stitch together Dark Green and Background triangles and Light Green and Background triangles. Make 2 of each unit illustrated.

  4. Stitch a Dark Green/Background unit to a Light Green/Background unit; stitch this to a Background 2" x 3 1/2" rectangle. Make 2 of each of the middle units illustrated.

  5. Stitch a Light Pink/Blue unit and a Light Pink 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" square. Stitch together a Step 1 unit and Light Pink/Blue unit. Stitch the two halves together to make the corner unit. Make 4 corner units.

  6. Stitch together the Medium Green and Dark Green 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" squares; Stitch the two halves together to make a four patch.

  7. Finally, stitch the block together as a nine patch, first into three rows, then stitching the rows together.
