Cut the pieces

  • Background (blue): Cut 1 - 3” x 5 1/2”.
  • Background (blue): Cut 4 - 1 1/2” x 1 1/2”; mark a diagonal line on the wrong side.
  • Background (blue): Cut 1 - 2” x 2”; mark a diagonal line on the wrong side.
  • Background (blue): Cut 2 - 3 1/2” x 4 1/2”.
  • Background (blue): Cut 1 - 2 1/2” x 4 1/2”.
  • Background (blue): Cut 8 - 2 1/2” x 2 1/2”; mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of 7 of these.
  • Background (blue): Cut 1 - 1 1/2” x 2 1/2”.
  • Background (blue): Cut 1 - 4 1/2” x 4 1/2”; mark a diagonal line on the wrong side.
  • Background (blue): Cut 1 - 1 1/2” x 4 1/2”.
  • Pink: Cut 2 - 2 1/2” x 2 1/2”; mark a diagonal line on the wrong side of 1 of these.
  • Pink: Cut 1 - 1 1/2” x 2 1/2”.
  • Pink: Cut 1 - 1 1/2” x 1 1/2”.
  • Pink: Cut 1 - 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”; cut in half diagonally to make 2 triangles of which you will use just 1.
  • Dark Green: Cut 1 - 2 7/8” x 2 7/8”; cut in half diagonally to make 2 triangles of which you will use just 1.
  • Dark Green: Cut 1 - 2 1/2” x 5 1/2”.
  • Dark Green: Cut 1 - 1 1/2” x 4 1/2”.
  • Dark Green: Cut 1 - 3 1/2” x 3 1/2”; mark a diagonal line on the wrong side.
  • Dark Green: Cut 1 - 4 1/2” x 5 1/2”.
  • Medium Green: Cut 1 - 2 1/2” x 10 1/2”.
  • Yellow: Cut 1 - 1 1/2” x 1 1/2”.
  • White: Cut 1 - 2” x 5 1/2”.
  • White: Cut 1 - 1 1/2” x 1 1/2”; mark a diagonal line on the wrong side.
  • White: Cut 2 - 2 1/2” x 4 1/2”.

Piecing directions

For all marked squares -
Place a marked square right sides together with the specified larger piece, carefully following each diagram. Stitch on the marked line, trim the corner ¼“ from the seam, and press seam toward corner.
  1. Unit 1
    Stitch a marked white 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” to the blue 3” x 5 1/2”. Stitch a blue 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” and a blue 2” x 2” to a white 2” x 5 1/2”. Stitch these two pieces together to make Unit 1.

  2. Unit 2
    Stitch three marked blue 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” to the white 2 1/2” x 4 1/2”. Stitch this piece to a blue 3 1/2” x 4 1/2” make Unit 2.

  3. Unit 3
    Stitch a marked pink 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” to a blue 2 1/2” x 4 1/2” to make Unit 3.

  4. Unit 4
    Stitch together the pink and yellow 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” squares; add the pink 1 1/2” x 2 1/2” to make Unit 4.

  5. Unit 5
    Stitch a marked blue 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” to each end of a white 2 1/2” x 4 1/2” to make Unit 5.

  6. Unit 6
    Stitch a marked blue 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” to each end of the dark green 2 1/2” x 5 1/2”; add the blue 1 1/2” x 2 1/2” to one end to make Unit 6.

  7. Unit 7
    Stitch one pink triangle to a dark green triangle. To this stitch the pink 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” square to make Unit 7.

  8. Unit 8
    Stitch a marked dark green 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” to the blue 3 1/2” x 4 1/2”; add the dark green 1 1/2” x 4 1/2” to make Unit 8.

  9. Unit 9
    Stitch a marked blue 4 1/2” x 4 1/2” to the dark green 4 1/2” x 5 1/2”. Stitch a marked blue 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” to the bottom corner of the dark green piece. Add the blue 1 1/2” x 4 1/2” to the top to make Unit 9.

  10. Unit 10
    Stitch a marked blue 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” to each end of the medium green 2 1/2” x 10 1/2”. Add a blue 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” to the bottom to make Unit 10.

  11. Finishing
    Stitch block together in this order:
    Unit 1 to Unit 2
    Unit 3 to Unit 4 to Unit 5
    Unit 7 to Unit 8
    Unit 6 to Unit 7/8 to Unit 9
    Unit 1/2 to Unit 3/4/5 to Unit 6/7/8/9
    Finally, add on Unit 10 to complete.
